Well, it begs the question of independence and impartiality doesn’t it? Realistically, banks and building societies can only discuss in depth the products that they have to offer. Let’s face it, when did your building society last reward you with “go to the bank down the road, they could save you a fortune”.
Don’t get me wrong, banks and building societies offer some great incentives. But with hundreds of different packages to choose from, how can you expect to pick your way through the maze of Lower Rates, Bigger Discount, Shorter Redemption, Fixed Rate, Interest Only, Total Flexibility etc.
The safest and only truly independent way would be to consult an Independent Mortgage Adviser for free and impartial advice. To have the knowledge of the products available from the whole market place (including those you’ll find on the high street) coupled with the experience of the industry, it will enable you to put your best foot forward. Of course, you may have to detail your present financial situation, but only that way will you establish the best mortgage option for you.
Buying a property, borrowing the money and having to pay it back over say, twenty-five years, is not a decision that should be taken lightly. After all, if you were buying a car, you would want to test drive a few, just to compare - wouldn’t you?
